Mythical Merch is an independent art collective founded in Cleveland, Ohio. For more than 13 years, we have transformed original artwork into enamel pins and other collectibles, building a catalog of over 1,000 designs in the process.
Our 3D Pins collection focuses on artwork that extends beyond a conventional flat pin surface. Depending on the design, that may involve sculpted metal, rounded relief, multiple levels, layered components, dimensional enamel or epoxy that creates additional depth.
Most of these 3D and dimensional pins are produced in limited runs. Production quantities vary, and many original editions are not manufactured again after selling out. Each product page should identify the design’s dimensions, finish, edition information and special construction when applicable.
What Makes a Pin Three-Dimensional?
Most traditional enamel pins begin with raised metal outlines surrounding recessed areas of color. Although those metal lines create some texture, the finished artwork generally reads as a mostly flat image.
A true 3D metal pin is formed with a sculpted mold capable of creating rounded contours, gradual slopes and multiple depths. This makes it possible to model details such as faces, hands, animals, objects and architectural shapes with more natural dimension. The process is closer to creating a tiny metal relief sculpture—only with a post on the back and considerably less museum security.
Other dimensional enamel pins create depth through stacked layers, raised components, curved surfaces, thick epoxy or a combination of metal and enamel effects. Sculpted Metal, Layered Enamel and Specialty Finishes
Our dimensional pins cover subjects including EDM and music culture, psychedelic art, fantasy creatures, skeletons, historical imagery, gaming, anime and unusual functional designs. The collection includes sculpted portraits and symbols alongside multilayered landscapes, molded objects and 3D mini-spoon pins.
Selected releases also incorporate glow-in-the-dark enamel, glitter, anodized metal, antique finishes or epoxy. These effects serve different purposes: glow enamel adds visibility in darkness, glitter reflects light, anodized metal can create shifting color, and antique plating emphasizes recessed sculptural detail.
Not every 3D pin contains enamel, and not every dimensional enamel pin is fully sculpted on every surface. Product photographs and descriptions provide the best representation of the construction used for an individual piece.
Why Artists Use 3D Pin Construction
Three-dimensional construction is most useful when depth is part of the artwork rather than an effect added afterward. Rounded metal can make a portrait feel more sculptural, give an object realistic volume or allow different portions of a design to sit on visibly separate planes.
It also creates different highlights and shadows as the pin is viewed from changing angles. That physical interaction is difficult to reproduce with printed artwork or a completely flat enamel surface.
The tradeoff is complexity. A design must be planned around the mold, plating, enamel placement, polishing and how far individual elements project from the surface. In other words, making a tiny sculpture is somehow more complicated than simply asking it to be tiny.
Wearing and Displaying 3D Pins
Dimensional pins can be worn on hats, jackets, backpacks, festival bags and lanyards or displayed on corkboards, fabric banners and collector cases. Their additional depth can make them especially noticeable as centerpiece pieces in a larger collection.
Some 3D metal pins are heavier or thicker than conventional enamel pins. Designs with two or more posts generally stay better oriented on fabric, while locking backs can provide extra security for limited-edition pieces worn at concerts, festivals or other active events.
After years of selling pins in person, we recommend checking a pin’s dimensions, weight and post placement before deciding where to wear it. A large sculpted pin may look excellent on a fitted hat but prove overly ambitious for a thin shirt collar. Physics remains stubbornly involved in fashion.

Can 3D pins include enamel and color?
Yes. Sculpted and dimensional metalwork can be combined with enamel, epoxy, glitter, glow effects and other color treatments. Some designs instead rely primarily on polished, anodized or antique-finished metal to emphasize their relief.
Are 3D pins heavier than regular enamel pins?
Some are, particularly larger sculpted or multilayered designs. Weight depends on size, thickness, metal and construction. Multiple posts and locking backs can help stabilize heavier pins when they are worn.
How should dimensional pins be cleaned?
Start with a clean, soft cloth that can reach around raised details without scratching the finish. Avoid abrasive polishes and aggressive chemical cleaners unless you know the specific metal, plating and coatings can tolerate them.
